Freddy Hutter ... on My Blogging

Sept 23, 2006:  Since 1989, I have published graphs and commentary about economics, climate change, global oil reserves, gasoline pricing, politics and current events.  I use graphs a lot ‘cuz they help folk comprehend the perspective of an issue almost instantly.  My first website after becoming engaged with the WWWeb in 1995 was www.TrendLines.ca and while it is a Canadian site … I currently have a viewership representing 90 nations.  The political polling that Evalina Zamana and i conduct has been featured in the Globe&Mail, Financial Post & the Western Standard.  Part of my notoriety is due to my conversion of political opinion polling data (mine and others) into Projections of winnable Ridings by each Party.  We have found that more people can relate to the number of Seats a Party can win better than an abstract percent figure.

On Sept 27th last year, I added a political Blog that focused on my daily comments of the Yukon political scene, both Federally and Territorially. At the time, I was sitting on the Board of Directors of both the Yukon Party & the Yukon Federal Conservative Party.  Our nightly political polling (2000 calls) over the past two years gave us awesome insight into political issues across the Territory's 18 Ridings, including which Incumbents were poised to lose or retain their seats. We wanted to share this and lots from all three Parties wanted to know. Unfortunately, the initial results of polls and opinions of Premier Fentie were not complimentary, nor was my constructive criticism and remedies (leadership review) so the YP shot the messenger. I was excommunicated.

Later, with our polling predictions on the Copperbelt By-Election & Larry Bagnell’s January win being incredibly accurate, our viewership mushroomed. The hits were a disproportionate and a burden on our server and we moved our Yukon content to a new site, www.theYukon.tv in May 2006.  A week short of my Blog’s first anniversary, on Sept 20th last week, the combined Blog sites had their 100,000 server hit.  We have entertained 32,777 different visitors of which 3,000 are Yukoners.

I get hundreds of emails, phone calls & taps on the shoulder when I out and about or at seminars … from viewers that appreciate my explanation and graphic presentations that put many issues into context.  Because it is an editorial format, I have strong opinions and I am definitely outspoken.  Most of my viewers crave that frankness.  And some do not.  My success is based on my failure to fence sit, a trait so common in modern day politicians.  They don’t want to offend “any” group, thus are reduced to eunuchs that are so inoffensive that they become useless in advocating any cause for fear of reprisal.  My viewers thrive on the politically incorrect and shock value of my writings.  CBC-types who like to live in a “nice” environment are not frequenters.

An example was my re-publishing of the Muslim Cartoons on Feb 20 (see it yourself) in the midst of the controversy. Across the globe there were riots and chaos. Thru int’l contacts I was able to secure the subject content and found it harmless. In my mind the Muslim was using these three month old publishings as a smear campaign and a means to stifle discussion about their dark side. My Blogging of the Cartoons was at attempt to illustrate what the fuss was about to bring about saner minds. Did u notice how quickly this episode subsided after the emperor was shown to have no clothes??

Pope Benedict was similarly quoted out of context last week.  I feel his pain.  My opponents occasionally go thru my thousand pages of content to find snippets of damaging text.  To a person they all leave out the StatCan tables and graphs and explanatory backgrounders.  Having worked on the Advisory Board of Directors or Executive of five political Parties over the years, I am no stranger to the domain of dirty tricks and heavy edits.  My work and research is used in academic studies around the Globe and well covered in the mainstream media … a sector in which I have worked on live cableTV shows, business columns and interviews since 1976.  I have confidence that my writings pass the smell test of public scrutiny.

I am one of the most prolific visitors to the Legislature Gallery. Many there shared similar attacks.  And it is where I see the frustrations of MLA’s who want to serve the public but are stymied by its dysfunction.  Much of what I write is the basis for Questions in the Leg’ and some local editors are paraphrasing and/or plagiarizing my nightly column.  I invite you to my Blogging sites.  My life is an open book and reflects my dedication to helping the little guy and the oppressed and my impatience with dysfunction, ineptness, laziness and even fluff grants. If time is a problem … my newest site, www.Hutter.ca (which promotes my views with respect to the current Election as it relates to Kluane voters and citizens) is a good start…

Via the campuses of Yukon College & Northern Lights College, I tutor computer/internet skills and entrepreneurism to budding businesses (mostly First Nations).  These road tours of the Yukon and northern BC were the foundation for Evalina and I choosing Kluane as our north of 60 home.  With a very warm welcome by the St Elias Lions Club, we began to sharing our knowledge and experiences with the Chamber of Commerce members, your Mayor and Village councillors and some from other local venues.  It was at that point that my intuitive political involvement was recognized locally and I was recruited for my first run for public office as your Kluane MLA.  Having polled Kluane many times, it was clear that there is dissatisfaction with the Party system at the Legislature and it was one of several Electoral Districts that openly yearned for a good Independent MLA that would not be beholden to a Leader or Party Caucus in promoting Kluane issues.  And the rest is history.

My opponents are very afraid of this development. And with respect, i don’t mean Gary or Jim or the parachutist. I have a history of going after the bad guyz like a beagle over a bone.  I am relentless. And drug dealers, sexual offenders and perpetrators of violent crime are not my favourite people.  I will help find out who they are.  I will help turn them in. I will help keep them locked up before and after trial. They know my history and they don’t want me in their backyard.

Similarly and likewise unfortunately, Chief James Allen will not like me around ‘cuz my views on Casinos & lotteries are well known in Whitehorse.  I would like to help him, CAFN and all First Nations’ leadership find a better way to strive for sustainability after the Federal settlement cheques run out starting on those 15th Anniversaries that commence in 2009.

When someone wants you to stay off their turf … check the motives.  Not necessarily related , Evalina was fired from St Elias School in an act of financial vigilantism by the dark side. We expect more.  But trust that Haines Junction, Kluane & the Yukon will be better places to live and raise a family if my opponents are defeated openly and in transparent fashion … a process that was denied for one who was lynched ‘cuz we lived under the same roof and “must be of like mind”.  Evalina was fired “for her off duty conduct” and “CAFN concern” says the letter from St Elias School.  Yet from her days with Solidarity in Poland, she has always been caring, truthful and helpful to a fault.

If you agree that this orchestrated scenario is not the Justice that you want your kids to see as a model, please contact Principal Ruth Lawrence. She was fair. The decision came from the Yukon Party Government. Though our Welcome has been somewhat tarnished, we also see the big picture. Please support me in my bid to represent you in the Legislature. And if you can afford a small donation, please give Evalina a call … with her newfound free time, she’s now my Official Agent for the election! If we are on the same page, please encourage your friends, family, neighbours and co-workers to vote for Change after Thanksgiving. I promise to serve you well.

Sincerely,

Freddy Hutter, 634.2266
